Designed by the same French architect who developed the Saint-Malo port in Brittany, France, the literal translation of its name is “beautifully designed”; as Kahina’s creator, Katharine, puts it, “Essaouira is a beautiful collision of worlds, merging 18^th century European design with the mysteries of Morocco.” Yet its vibe is relaxed, perhaps because its famous coastal wind keeps hordes of beach-seeking tourists away.
