Sustainability: Our Packaging

Packaging sustainability

We’re constantly thinking about ways we can operate more eco-consciously. Here, we thought we’d break down our packages a bit so that you can feel confident that a) you're getting a planet-friendly shipment, and b) you’re disposing of its materials in the most conscientious way possible.

Our shipping boxes are made of post-consumer recycled cardboard, as much as possible. They’re biodegradable and recyclable.

Our brown paper wrap, the webby stuff shown above, is used to cushion fragile items. It’s biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable.

Our packing peanuts, which are made of organic starch, are biodegradable and compostable. (If you don’t have composting facilities in your neighborhood, you can empty them into your kitchen sink and dissolve them with water! And yes, your pipes will be safe.)

Any bubble wrap you might see in your package has been reused from shipments we've received from the brands we carry. Please save it and reuse it when you can.

And if you live near us, you have more eco-friendly options —

Save a box: If you live nearby, you’re always welcome to pop into our studio at 1825 Bush Street and shop in person. You can also order online and pick up your order in-store — just mention it in the notes when you check out, and we’ll have it ready for you.

Bring in your empties: Finished up the products you bought from us? We’re working with TerraCycle to make sure all our empty packaging gets recycled properly, and we’re happy to include yours, too. The next time you’re in the neighborhood, swing by with your empties and ask us to put them into our Zero Waste Box.
