Ingestible elixir to alleviate stress, PMS, and feelings of irritability / 2 fl oz
Arcana BALANCE tincture is based on a mood-balancing, nervous-system-harmonizing Chinese formula that dates back to 990 AD, and yet it somehow seems to be the quintessential remedy for modern day tensions. Used along with the more skin-specific tinctures DISPEL, CLEAR, and ELEVATE — or on its own — BALANCE addresses stress, adrenal fatigue, irritability, anger, overwhelm, and that general wound-tight feeling that’s so common and often comes hand in hand with stomach and appetite issues. Or, as creator Dr. Anna Gold describes it:
“Picture a woman the week of her PMS, where she has a little nausea, a little headache, maybe some shoulder and neck tension (since they run along the liver-gallbladder meridians). Or picture a man or woman who’s irritated and mood swingy. Because all of this energy is bound up, it’s drawing energy from other places — so you don’t feel like eating, and you’re restless when you’re trying to go to sleep.”
Any of that sound familiar? When seemingly everything irritates you and you need some emotional support, try this formula instead of a glass of wine. Or try both. Add in a primal scream if necessary…no judgment here.
How it works: The varied situations that Balance can remedy are based on “Liver Qi stagnation overacting on Spleen,” a pattern generally attributed to stress and worry. Bupleurum and Tree Peony are known to be key relievers of this stagnation, while Poria, Ginger, and Atractylodes are known to stimulate digestive function, aiding with the absorption of the herbs as well. The blend is also designed to help relax the body, in the way one might feel after a slow, deep breath. Anna added some of her favorite tension-calming, mood-lifting herbs (Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, and Lemon Balm) to this ancient Chinese formula to give it even more oomph.
PS If you have severe allergies to any specific foods, please check the ingredient list and consult your doctor if you're uncertain about these varieties.
