Lily Lolo mascara is (as far as we can tell) one of the most frequently mentioned in healthy beauty circles as a Holy Grail mascara, and this Natural version is their classic original formula. It darkens and separates lashes perfectly and evenly, helping them hold a curl. What separates it from the pack, though, is that the creamy formula dries very quickly, which means that it is one of the least-likely-to-smudge clean mascaras we’ve tried. And it washes right off  — no tugging or pulling required — which makes it particularly kind to lashes and lids.

So what’s not to love about this vegan, fragrance free, sensitive-eyes-friendly, gluten free, basically beyond-reproach formula that also happens to be a crazy good value? Quite honestly, we can’t think of anything. If you’re going for an everyday natural look, this might be your Holy Grail mascara, too.

How to Use

Make sure eyelashes are clean and dry. Looking down into a mirror (preferably magnified), start at the base of the lashes using light zigzag strokes working up to the tips of the lashes. The zigzag technique helps to prevent lashes sticking together and gives them a more ‘feathery’ appearance.

Apply additional coats while still wet; if fluid sets, it can make lashes clumpy and the wand won’t easily pull through. Apply no more than 3 coats.

Finally, gently apply a light coat to lower lashes, if desired, to open the eyes.

- Myrica pubescens fruit and carnauba waxes hold the formula together without the need for beeswax (making it vegan)
- Sunflower seed oil nourishes lashes
