Spray from about 7-9 inches away, focusing on the lengths and ends rather than the roots (skip the roots altogether if your scalp tends to get oily). Scrunch with your palms, not your fingertips, to activate the texture — and go in expecting a soft, natural hold rather than a rigid one.
