Olio E Osso Bel Corpo Body Oil: the story behind the product

Conveniently, beautifully, Olio E Osso Bel Corpo Body Oil combines two key roles: it’s a nourishing, softening, moisturizing body oil that sinks right in with a scent that’s so captivating, you’ll want to use this as your fragrance, too.
Here, Dara chats with Olio E Osso’s founder, Paola LaMorticella, about its inspiration.

Dara: What prompted you to create Bel Corpo Body Oil?
PAOLA: I was working on a midweight body oil and the Bel Corpo scent separately in late 2019. Then the pandemic hit, and I realized everyone needed a hug. Bel Corpo body oil is that hug.

Dara: What do you love most about it?
PAOLA: There is not one thing that I can pull out as most loved. It is deep and beautiful, classic but not stodgy. Comforting without smothering your senses. Clean, grounded, truly unisex.

Dara: Its scent is so beautiful. How did you come up with this blend of rose absolute, patchouli, vetiver, and rose geranium?
PAOLA: There is a time in all of our lives where we feel the tallest and most powerful. When no one can stop us. For me, that was the 80’s.
My ferocious, beautiful friends and I shopped at thrift stores. We smoked clove cigarettes. We would pool our money together to buy Tea Rose essential oil that we would share. We skipped school almost every day and walked downtown in the drizzly rain. It seemed like it was always drizzling in the 80’s.
Every day we would walk downtown, turn the corner and see a friend. And every day it felt like the most joyous surprise. We would give each other big hugs that were scented in vintage finds, cool rose, warm spice, and potential.
Bel Corpo is that hug.

Whether it’s you, a friend, or a family member — someone in your life, we’re quite sure, could use this hug right now.
